Let me know the outcome. I've been wanting to grow some different? ones myself.

oh ok , im trying to home grow the edible one i found? hear. cultivating the sporn now.

I agree with you. ...
I agree with you. That's why people need to learn Latin names. That way there is no way to mistake what people are talking about. There are 3 beef steaks 9 (1 ) Gyromitra Esculenta, (? 2) Fistulina Hepatica ) and finally Prime Ribe , which I like med. rare!!!

thats not the beef ...
thats not the beef steak mushroom ?

awesome info.. ...
awesome info.. morels will be here soon. :)?

I have tried them ...
I have tried them too, when I? first started hunting. I would rather look for true morels , that are out at the same time , and are safe to eat.

You have been told ...
You have been told right !! . G. Esculenta is poison. Contains MMH., a toxin used in rocket fuel. However, I can find no findings that G. Gigas or G Korfii are poison ( Alexander H. Smith & Nancy Smith Weber - A Mushroom Hunters Field Guide ) However they do list a European guide does list G. Gigas as poisonous. Not saying? what guide book. I would leave it up to the hunter to deside.

Well this video ...
Well this video answers my question. I just found some and have different people give? their opinions on whether they are safe for consumption. I'm not gonna feed them to my kids. Thanks, luckily I found about 50 morels too!

I know, lots of ...
I know, lots of people still eat them reguardless of the warnings. When they do the autopsy, they'll find monomethylhydrazine in? his liver & kidneys. This toxic compound builds up in the liver & kidneys, with each meal, and never goes away.

I don;t eat them ...
I don;t eat them because I don't like the taste. I can literally fill a coleman? cooler full of these every day since they grow like wildfire here in this part of Michigan. Like I said, I don't care for the taste, but my buddy has picked and ate them for 25 years and has never been sick from them.

Yes and yes !! G. ...
Yes and yes !! G. gigas, a western species and? its cousin G. korfii, an eastern species, are both listed as edible . The asci of both are 8 spored, operculate and inamyloid, but still differ microscopically. You are right about G. esculenta . Most people in Michigan call them beefsteaks. I use Latin names because it doesn't matter where you are in the world, people know exactly which mushroom you're talking about. Fistulina hepatica is rare here, but I like it thin sliced on a salad.

oops forgot to ...
oops forgot to agree this is a deadly poisonous species. most false morels are nasty business. (there is one exception but it only grows west of the rockies and is only for a pro? to identify through its spores... (Gyromitra gigas...))

I thought this was ...
I thought this was a conifer false morel which is listed as Gyromitra Esculenta. The only beefsteak mushroom i know of is a polypore (Fistulina hepatica). Is beefsteak a local common name for? the mushroom in the video?
